I probably should have looked for something like that a souvenir from Russia. Someone on the street was selling a GAZ hood ornament but they wanted like 5000 rubles for it, this was before the collapse of the ruble so it was like $140, so I didn’t get it.

I have an old Vostok Komandirskie, that my dad brought with him into the US in 1988. It still runs fine, but I’ve been wanting to clean it up and make it nice again, but nobody is willing to work on it. I mean these do eBay for like $50 so it’s probably not worth the effort. I’ve been toying with the idea of buying my own tools and taking it apart to replace the face and the hands and whatnot.. how hard can it be.

There’s an ebay seller Samun_povt who is likely the most reputable dealer of old Raketas. He services the watches, posts a video of their accuracy as shown by some clock timing machine, and includes a strap. So if you’re interested in Soviet watches, I recommend him.
